DESCRIPTION
returns a user's user id (uid) (as recorded in the system passwd file)
SYNOPSIS

ARGUMENTS
s - a quoted string, or string expression, representing a user name
or:
i - an integer, greater than or equal to zero, representing a user id (uid)
EXAMPLES
